Through international exchange with youth from around the world, we strive to promote mutual understanding, goodwill, and international awareness, and ultimately contribute to the realization of world peace. We are the non-profit organization that aims to promote mutual friendship and personal growth among members of the community through activities that promote international exchange in Kobe.

OTONARIさんとは・・・？
いまや特別な存在でなく、異なる文化を有する隣人として、日本で生活している外国人の方々を、
私たち兵庫県世界青年友の会では、「OTONARIさん」と
呼んでいます。
We, Hyogo World Youth call our friends from all over the world “OTONARI-san(s)” which mean "neighbors" who are living in Japan not as special people but as neighbors with different cultures/ backgrounds.

沿革 Our History
1968年（昭和43年）6月16日（日）に、財団法人世界青少年交流協会の海外派遣旅行から
帰国した20代の青年たちが、「世界青年友の会兵庫県支部」を立ち上げました。
設立から３年後の1971年（昭和46年）には、会の名称を現在の「兵庫県世界青年友の会」と改め、それ以降、地方自治体・企業・学校・青少年団体や地域住民を、大きな草の根国際交流の渦へと巻き込んで行きました。
兵庫県世界青年友の会の活動も、かつては短期の訪日青少年代表団受入れが大きな比重を占めていましたが、今では、海外からの留学生・研修生たちに日本への理解をより深めてもらう活動と、地域のみなさんに外国の文化への関心を高めてもらう活動へとシフトしてきています。
しかし、私たちが設立当時に掲げた「草の根国際交流の推進」という活動目的は、半世紀を経た今も変わることはありません。

On Sunday, June 16, 1968, a group of young people in their twenties who had returned from an overseas trip organized by the World Youth Exchange Foundation established the Hyogo Branch of the World Youth Association.
In 1971, three years after its establishment, the name was changed to the current “Hyogo World Youth.” Since then, the association has been involved in a large grassroots international exchange effort involving local governments, businesses, schools, youth organizations, and local residents.
The activities of the Hyogo World Youth, which once focused on hosting short-term youth delegations to Japan, have now shifted to activities that help international students and trainees deepen their understanding of Japan and increase their interest in international cultures in the local community.
However, the purpose of our activities, “to promote grassroots international exchange,” which we set forth at the time of our establishment, has not changed over the past half century.
Now, we invite YOU all to join us and participate in the circle of international exchange!
